about the combined campaign

Giving Hope a Hand signals an important new chapter in the mission of Hospitality House. In the 24 years since this outreach ministry was formed by six downtown Boone churches in a donated house at 302 W. King Street, Hospitality House staff and volunteers have made a remarkable difference in countless lives. From the initial outreach to give homeless people shelter, the services have expanded to include the Bread of life soup kitchen and the We-CAN crisis assistance program on behalf of almost 40 local churches and cooperating agencies.

Since 1985 Hospitality House has served thousands of people. The work has grown dramatically, and this year we are consistently serving record numbers of people in need and still turning many away on a regular basis. We have outgrown our facilities. Our downtown facilities are old and worn out. The work required that we do better to provide safe, secure spaces. The volume of people in need who come to use moves our hearts to expand our services. Our mission to help people with a hand up compels us to seek enhanced program resources for greater horizons of life changing services.

The Hospitality House leaders invite you to join us in Giving Hope a Hand. These pages give a hint of the story. We have a plan to touch more lives with a helping hand, a sense of new hope, the tools and support for a new direction in life. We thank all those who have made our work possible across the years. Now, we have new chapters to write in our work and in many lives of people who will come through our doors.
