This past year the Watauga Crisis Assistance Network (WeCAN) observed its eleventh year of helping community neighbors in crisis. Conceived, organized and funded by the faith community in 2002, WeCAN serves as a clearing house of benevolence assistance and crisis services for Watauga County residents.

Staying at Hospitality House
Call us at 828.264.1237 on the day that you become homeless. We typically have a waiting list so you'll need to add your name. If we have space available, we'll ask you to arrive for check-in at 4:30. Since we are a 90 day program, you will be asked to agree to our guidelines and meet with a service coordinator to assess your situation and set goals for acquiring housing while you are with us.
Hospitality House is comprised of shared rooms and bathrooms. Since it's a communal living situation, you must be able to reside with others in a peaceful manner. Each room has several bunk beds and residents share bathrooms, laundry and shower facilities.
Hospitality House is a substance-free facility. Each resident must take a breathalyzer daily and is subject to random drug screening. Failure to comply can result in a ban.
One Bin, One Bag
You may bring personal items with you. Due to crowded conditions, your personal effects must fit into a 22 gallon bin and a 55 gallon bag.
Each resident is expected to commit to help with daily chores. Residents will sign up for chores each night at house meeting and must have a staff memeber sign off upon completion of their assigned chore.
