Shelter Services

Hospitality House operates an Emergency Shelter, which can shelter up to 17 individuals each night, two transitional housing facilities, which can shelter up to 18 individuals each night, and a permanent housing facility, which has eight efficiency apartments.

Supportive services are offered to the residents including intensive case management, which focuses on the development of an individualized service plan to address the needs of each individual including employment, educational, medical, and housing. The staff coordinates needed services and resources with area agencies to address the physical, social and emotional needs of the homeless. Outreach services are also offered to the homeless in the community who may not qualify or want to stay in a shelter. Meals, showers, and laundry services are also offered to those in need.

Watauga Crisis Assistance Network (WeCAN)

Watauga County Assistance Network is a faith based community ministry that responds to crisis situations such as, preventing eviction, assisting the homeless with permanent housing solutions, preventing cut-off of utility services, assisting with heating needs, assisting with needed prescriptions when no other funding source is available, and assisting with transportation related expenses necessary for employment or for medical related needs. Besides addressing immediate crisis needs, WeCAN provides guidance in overcoming recurrent situations, provides education, and advocates for those in crisis.

WeCAN mission is to help our neighbors in a respectful and compassionate manner through the coordination of resources from the faith community and other service agencies.

During 2008, WeCAN had 972 client contacts (539 new and 433 repeat) and provided or arranged over $138,504 in Crisis Assistance

If you have any questions regarding WeCAN, please contact Jennifer McGee at 264-1237. wecan@hospitalityhouseofboone.org
